"Enjoyable", "Stimulating", "An unforgettable office function"...some of the words used to describe the morning, afternoon and sunset cruises in Algoa Bay, which is home to the largest African Penguin population in the world, as well as a healthy traffic in dolphins, whales, seals, fish and birds.
Close encounters with Bottlenose Dolphin schools of 50 to 400 animals are possible. These dolphins breed throughout the year and so it is usual to see calves with the adults.
Other dolphins that are sighted from time to time are Common Dolphins, which occur in schools of 200 to 2 000; resident Bryde's Whales may be seen in the Bluewater Bay area; and Humpback Whales (June/July, and October/December) and Southern Right Whales (June/October) may be sighted in season.
